This is the site of the Advanced Functional Materials and Nanoscience (AFM-NANO) research group leaded by Dr. David Díaz Díaz. The general research interests of AFM-NANO research group are centered in the development of functional materials with applications in areas such as biomedicine, catalysis, molecular sensing, coatings and adhesives, environmental remediation and energy. We believe that the discovery of new versatile and functional materials with solid prospect for practical applications will be intimately associated to inexpensive, simple and scalable processes. Thus, we aim to select the most practical chemical approaches for the synthesis of new materials and fine-tuning specific properties.

David Díaz Díaz received his PhD in Chemistry from Universidad de La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain) He joined Prof. Finn’s group as a postdoc at the Scripps Research Institute (CA, USA). Since 2006, he has held various positions in Academia and Industry in Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany. Currently, he combines his teaching and research activities at the University of Regensburg (Germany) as PrivatDozent (PD Dr. Habil.) and at the Universidad de La Laguna (Spain) as Full Professor.
